Prior to 2019 Peer Schatz was CEO of QIAGEN. He joined QIAGEN in 1993 where he served as CFO to 2004. He prior to 1993 held various positions at Sandoz and Computerland and participated in the founding and development of several companies. Peer Schatz held director positions at AdvaMedDx and ALDA in the United States from 2009 to 2019. He also served as a founding member of the German Corporate Governance Commission between 2001 and 2011.

Peer Schatz was born in 1965 in New York and grew up in the United States and Switzerland. He studied economics and social sciences at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he graduated with a master’s degree in 1989. In 1991 he graduated from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Between 2017 and 2020 he co-chaired the Precision Medicine Council of the World Economic Forum.
