Before assuming her current responsibilities, she served as the CFO of Celesio AG from 2012 to 2014, as well as speaker of the Management Board from 2013 to 2014. From 2010 to 2011, Marion Helmes was CFO of Q-Cells SE. Prior to that, she was CFO of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG for four years and of ThyssenKrupp Stainless AG from 2005 to 2006, after directing Mergers & Acquisitions at ThyssenKrupp AG for three years. In 2000, she was appointed Vice President Corporate Development of The Budd Company Inc., in the U.S. Before joining ThyssenKrupp AG as Senior Manager Controlling/Mergers & Acquisitions in 1997, she worked as a project manager at St. Gallen Consulting Group.

Marion Helmes graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the Free University of Berlin, Germany in 1991 and received a Ph.D. from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1996. She was born in Emmerich, Germany, in 1965.
