Ralf Thomas, Prof. Dr. rer. pol., born in 1961, has been Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG since 2013. Within the Siemens AG Managing Board, he has special responsibility for Siemens Healthineers as well as for the areas of Controlling and Finance, Siemens Financial Services and Siemens Real Estate Services.
After studying economics and business administration and earning a doctorate in 1994 with a dissertation in the field of income tax accounting, Ralf Thomas joined Siemens AG in 1995. Since then, he has held positions as Head of the Accounting, Controlling and Treasury Department at Siemens in South Africa; Performance Controller at Siemens Medical Solutions; CFO of Siemens Angiography, Fluoroscopic and Radiographic Systems; Head of the Corporate Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Reporting & Taxes Department at Siemens AG; and CFO of the former Industry Sector at Siemens AG. In 2018, he was appointed Honorary Professor for Economics and Business Administration at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
Ralf Thomas is also Chairman of the Stock Exchange Committee of Experts (Börsensachverständigenkommission), which advises Germany’s Federal Ministry of Finance. In addition, he is Treasurer of the Max Planck Society (MPG) and a member of its Executive Committee as well as Chairman of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (ASCG).
